I promised my rants would remain politics free, and with this rant, I'm skewing from that promise a little bit, albeit only slightly.

What I meant when I said it would be politics free, I meant I wouldn't side with any particular theology. I won't endlessly rant about whether communism, anarchism, totalitarianism, marxism, or democracy is better. I won't get into September 11th, or whether I'm pro or anti Bush. None of that is relevant.

What I am going to rant about, however, is politicians as a whole. I'm sure, whether you're a democrat, republican, liberal, federalist, conservative, or centrist, you still understand that the average joe is getting screwed in the ass by the upper 1%. No matter where you live or what you do, unless you're in that class of people, you're getting the short end of the stick. And it doesn't matter what new people get recycled at the top, you'll always get screwed. One-shot dry.

Which brings me to my next point: politicians are so worthless and helpless, that instead of spending their time promoting themselves, and what they bring to the table, they spend their entire campaigns seeing who can fling the most shit in the other party's direction. Every newspaper ad, TV spot, interview, press conference, and billboard slags the "other guy". The "other guy" wasted your tax dollars! The "other guy" smoked pot in highschool! The "other guy" doesn't care about you!

If you're a Canadian, or follow Canadian politics or media, you'll see the frenzy going on in parliament right now. Stephen Harper (who, regardless of party or affiliations, desperately needs to do something about that hair) has spewed a disgusting verbal diarrhea for the last few months that is unparalleled. He hasn't once talked about how his party is better, or why he thinks he's the right choice. He's only talked about how he needs to put the liberal government "out of its misery". I'm not a liberal supporter either, but I wouldn't vote for Stephen Harper if you PAID ME to do so.

I think it's time someone who gives a shit stepped up -- everywhere. Every democratic nation deserves to have someone stand up who believes in helping the people and doing the right thing. Unfortunately, all any of us have to offer are scumsucking slimeballs who don't care about you, your health, or your pocketbook. Just lying, and scamming their way to the top.

And what's even more unfortunate is that we have only ourselves to blame, because we keep electing these idiots.
